Zyah Belle
Zyah Belle
As the daughter and niece of choir directors, Belle was born into a musically inclined family by default. Growing up in the small city of Vallejo,Ca , she was bred on prominent greats such as Stevie Wonder, Anita Baker and Chaka Khan, Jill Scott, and Erykah Badu. Zyah Belle spend countless hours in her room singing to these artists albums. But It wasn’t until she was cast as the lead role of Dorothy in The Wiz during her sophomore year if high school that she discovered that she was, in fact, a talented vocalist. After being met with an eruption of applause after singing the musicals classic, “Home” on opening night Belle knew that music was the path that she would forever travel. She then went on to enter the Jazz Vocal program at Sacramento State University. In 2011 after having a few financial setbacks, Zyah Belle decided to give music her all. Having been pursuing it professionally for 5 years now, Belle admits that the most challenging aspect of being an artist is the pressure of producing in quantity, as opposed to producing quality. “The industry is so oversaturated with up and coming artists that it can be easy to get caught up in the illusion of competing rather than focusing on creating timeless music,” she says. While many artists nowadays navigate toward what ever sound is presently popular, Belle’s agenda is to create music that’ll eternally resonate with people. And it definitely resonates in the city of Sacramento,Ca where Zyah Belle resides. She has been nominated for two “Sammie” awards by Sacramento News & Review. For the “Artist of the Year” award and the “Best R&B/Soul” artist. She also received the “Next Big Thing” award in 2015 by the Robert Brookins Music Academy. Formed by the family of the late great composer and music director, Robert Brookins. Who worked with artists such as The Isley Brothers, Earth Wind and Fire, and Janet Jackson. Zyah Belle is deeply influenced by Jazz, Soul and Hip Hop, but also leaves room open for new elements of sound. With a voice that is powerful yet strategically asserted. Conveying a hypnotic and lasting impression on her listeners. Zyah Belle is currently working on a studio album to be released this Winter.
